Elon Musk’s political decisions have seriously damaged his company, himself, and his employees by ruining public perception. Long perceived as the emblem of innovation and creativity, Elon Musk’s instant political actions had a severe and harmful impact on his company’s public perception. His actions led to the eruption of several boycotts and arson attacks across the United States and Europe, and it tarnished Tesla’s reputation as a company.

Moreover, Dan Ives, a securities analyst, known for his optimism for Tesla, stated that Tesla is in a precarious situation and voiced his disillusionment. Tesla’s stock dropped by a sobering 42% and it suggested how serious a leader’s decision can have on a company. 

Musk’s political actions tarnished Tesla’s reputation. For instance, Musk publicly favored the far-right side of politics, advocating for Germany’s Alternative for Germany Party, assumed a prominent leadership role in DOGE, and fired many government officials even though he was not elected. 

In my opinion, Musk has the obligation to focus on his company because if he chases his personal ambitions, a company that is widely known and influential in the car industry will suffer and face harsh consequences. Moreover, Musk is not a politician, but a leader of a company and has to focus on his career as a CEO. To add on, firing government officials even though he is not elected undermines the basic tenets of democracy. This evidence shows that Musk’s situation is dire, and that he has to focus on his company, not the government.
