Google’s $4.9B Intersect Acquisition Signals Energy as the Backbone of AI Growth

Google has acquired energy infrastructure firm Intersect for approximately $4.88 billion, securing a $15 billion energy pipeline. By integrating data centers with on-site solar and natural gas power, the deal addresses AI-driven energy shortages. CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that energy infrastructure will be a decisive factor in scaling AI and maintaining U.S. leadership.

Google has acquired Intersect, an energy infrastructure company with approximately $4,881,706,200. Intersect builds data centers with solar and natural gas power plants on the site. Through this acquisition, Google will secure an energy pipeline worth about $15 billion. This solves the problem of energy deficiency caused by our current AI use.
Moreover, Google CEO Sundar Pichai remarked, “The acquisition of Intersect will accelerate the expansion of data center capacity and help drive U.S. leadership in AI.” This remark evinces that energy will be a crucial factor in the future, as it is correlated with the uses of AI and is the backbone of AI growth.
